International AAD 2021

Date or timeframe: 20-01-2021 / 28-02-2021
City: Wordlwide

Category(-ies):

With this IAAD, we are taking a slightly different approach. While we recognize the need for the right thing to present itself, we also recognize that we are all busy people with complicated lives. Our solution is a more structured AAD with weekly Themes planned in advance, repeating weekly slots of material, and special one-off topics from guest presenters. This more structured framework will allow us to explore topics in more depth, and be able to anticipate the schedule to a greater degree.

In terms of commitment, we are asking that each person commit to the morning sitting, as well as 30 minutes/day of practice. This practice can be anything, as long as it is clearly defined. These two pieces of work that we all commit to will create the foundation for the AAD.

The suggested donation for this IAAD is $200, though Best Shots are available as needed.

To register, please submit an application letter to rayoflightinc@gmail.com detailing:

Who are you?

Where are you from?

What is your practice commitment?

What is your aim for the AAD?

Once your letter is received you will receive more instructions soon. We’ll be using the same website as previous projects, and John Peacock has graciously agreed to be our Caretaker once again. The site will open closer to the beginning of the course, and we’ll include some info from him regarding logins and other info closer to the beginning.

Thank you everyone, and we look forward to seeing you on the AAD!

Best wishes,

Chris G., Dev, and Erin

International AAD 2020 II

Date or timeframe: 27-05-2020 / 05-07-2020

Category(-ies):

Having let go of the previous 40 day AAD project, held from March 25 to May 3 this year, a strong need remains not only for continuing working together at-a-distance, but also for building upon that experience and further exploring all the new things it showed us about working together while physically apart.

There is a real possibility that at-a-distance work may become increasingly crucial in the future, and the current crisis offers us an invaluable opportunity to continue preparing ourselves for this. Our sense is that it is important for us to step through this door while it is still open.

And why not have some fun at the same time? The previous International AAD project featured a wonderful coming-together of crafties from all generations, together brewing up a lively squerd of everything from Keynotes to Sambamatics, to Calisthenics and inner work, as well as both performances and Tea Time live on Zoom, and much more!

Several of those who helped guide that project have now already been in touch offering their support and expressed their wish to be a part of these upcoming 40 days of work. We’ll continue to leave the specifics up to the moment and let the project define itself as much as possible, while we aim to act as a self-organising whole as much as we’re able to bear.

This project is for those who have some previous GC experience and have been introduced to the Morning Sitting, to which all participants will be asked to commit for the duration of the project.

Dev and Mika are the core facilitating duo for this project. A number of other experienced Crafties have been invited to take part in the organisation and guidance of the work, mostly based on who were involved in the previous project. If you see yourself in any such role for this project, please let us know!

The minimum fee for participation is $50, but we welcome larger contributions from those who wish and are able to make them. If this is not possible for you, a best shot is also acceptable.

To register, please submit an application letter to rayoflightinc@gmail.com detailing:

Arrivals: Sunday afternoon, June 24
Departures: by noon on Sunday, August 12

During this seven week project we will explore various areas of our work as outlined in the attached schedule, ranging from a review of basic principles to exploring new fields together.

While the titles used in the schedule indicate the primary focus for each period of work, the details of each week will be left open to the needs of the moment so that we may allow the project to present itself.

Projects such as this are rare and attending for the full seven weeks is a special opportunity, however, one can attend for any duration from a week to the entire project.  For those who wish to begin again, the first week is particularly recommended.

An At-A-Distance component will be offered in tandem with the project so that those able to be in the house in Oxford for only part of the time can still participate actively in the project as a Whole. Participation solely AAD is also possible.

Housework and Kitchen Work will be an integral part of the project.

Various staff will be leading different periods of work as outlined in the attached schedule: Jaxie Binder, Alessandro Bruno, Andres Ceccarelli, Chris Doering, Tony Geballe, Chris Gibson, Curt Golden, Fernando Kabusacki, Luciano Pietrafesa, Dev Ray, Tom Redmond, Mariana Scaravilli, Martin Schwutke, Frank Sheldon, Mikael Weichbrodt, and Erin Wigger.

Martin Schwutke will present yoga during the first two weeks.

Erin Wigger will present the Alexander Technique during the second two weeks.
