Robert Fripp’s words at lunch at The OCG XIII Performance Project
Robert Fripp’s words at lunch just before departure to Detroit for concert, as recalled by John Hicks:
I will speak a few minutes before the end of quiet time in order to say a few words about the 60 point exercise so that we may begin it at 12:30.
This exercise is a binding exercise. In the early days of guitar craft Thrak, as well as being an exercise for health, was also a binding exercise.
A binding exercise is one way of bringing a group together under a common intention; the Whizz is also a binding exercise.
Though we may be spread out, yet the fact that we are all engaged at the same moment with attention to a certain point in the body engenders a coherence that we otherwise wouldn’t have and that is very useful for the performance.
